Development of agricultural complex.

Krasnodar Krai is one of the leading regions , that provides food supply security of the country. More than 7,5% of the gross agricultural production of Russia is produced in the region.

According to the subtotal of the 1st quarter of 2009 the region occupies the leading positions in Russia for the production of agricultural goods: 85% from the all-Russian production of rice, 60% - grape, 40% - corn, more than 30% sugarbeet, more than 10% - grain
• Agricultural complex is the basis of economics of Krasnodar Krai. Its share in the volume of gross regional product accounts for 25%.According to the results of 2008 the volume of the production of the products in agricultural enterprises of all categories increased on more than 40% and accounted for 209 billion rubles.
• For the past period of 2009 Krasnodar Krai produced 10% from the gross rice harvest of Russia.
• There are 66% of cultivated areas of rice in Krasnodar Krai
In agricultural complex of Kuban there operate 4150 enterprises of different forms of ownership. There are:
• 760 large and medium-sized collective farms
• 17,3 thousand of farm enterprises
870 000 private plots.

In average agricultural enterprises have 10 000 and more hectares of land, from 600 to 1000 working people.
Food processing industry
In Krasnodar Krai there operate 250 large and medium-sized enterprises of food processing industry, that produce more than 2 thousand items of consumer goods, among which more than 700 meet European standards. Their production of a wide range is realized to the habitancy of Kuban, to the regions of Russia and is delivered abroad.

The branch of plant-growing

About 100 names of agricultural products are under cultivation in plant-growing industry. Among the main cultivated plants are:
• Grain crops. Crop yield is of high priority for the region. According to the results of 2008 the record yield was collected – 523 000 tonnes of grain.
• Soya bean. This culture got a wide feed, food and technical use in the region.
• Rice. There is the largest rice-growing complex in the region. There operate 235 000 hectares of rice systems of engineer type,
• Sugar beet. The gross collecting of beet root in 2008 accounted for 6122 thousand tones.
• Grape. Grape growing got spread in Anap-Tamansk zone. Forty-two specialized farming organizations are engaged in manufacturing of grapes, 22 of which turn out products of wine. Vineyards occupy 30,8 thousand hectares
• Potato. In 2008 there was collected 487,5 tones of potato in Kuban.
• Vegetables. In 2008 the gross yield of vegetables accounted for 613,8 thousand tones, that is 140 000 tones more than in 2007.
• Fruit. 373 collective and farming organisations are engaged in producing fruit and berries., 37 of which are specialized.
• Oil crop. Krasnodar Krai is the Russian leader for the yield of sunflower seeds.
• Tea. Tea plantations are located in Chernomorsk zone of the region
Krasnodar tea is booked in Guinness World Records as the most northern tea in the world.
• Citrus cultures are cultivated in Chernomorsk zone of the region. Among the cultivated cultures are oranges, mandarines, pineapple guava.




The branch of livestock breeding

The region has the largest number of cattle, pigs, poultry, the largest volumes of production of cattle and poultry for killing, milk and eggs. One of the characteristics of animals is their high productivity. The average milk-yield from one cow, daily average weight gain and the level of egg production – the best in the Southern Federal District of Russia.
Livestock production has made a real shoot forward: about 500 000 tones of cattle and poultry was bred in 2008 and 1,3 mln. tones of milk was drawn.

Fish Industry

Fish industry is represented with 114 enterprises of different forms of ownership. The bag of fish is carried out from Azov and Black Sea, Kuban lakes and rivers. There are valuable fish species: beluga, sturgeon, starred sturgeon,herring, zanthe, shemaya.


Food processing industry

In accordance with the results of 2008 the turnover of large and medium-sized organizations of food processing industry of the region accounted for – 3,1 billion rubles, that is 51 % less than in previous year because of availability of corn surpluses on grain elevators in the volume of 2122 thousand tones

Scientific potential in agricultural complex.

Scientific potential in Krasnodar Krai is more than 30 all-Russian and regional research, educational, project designing, experimental stations. Scientific schools of academicians Lukyanenko, Pustovoit, Hadzhinov.
Exploratory developments and application of science achievements are performed according to six regional scientific-technical programmes:
• Economics and personnel of agricultural complex.
• Plant-growing.
• Processing and keeping of agricultural products.
• Livestock breeding and feed production.
• Mechanization.
• Construction.

Investments into Agricultural Complex.

In 2008 it was invested more than 5 billion rubles into agricultural complex of Krasnodar Krai. Progressive total since 2003 the volume of investments into agricultural complex according to the completed agreements accounted for more than 19 billion rubles.
The domestic investors of the federal level contribute capital effectively enough into the agricultural complex of the region:
• “Wimm Bill Dann”, OAO “UNIMILK company” (investments into milk production); “Dominant” and “ Prodimacs”( investments into sugar beet complex); OOO “ Yug Rusi”, OOO “Aston”, OOO “ Stolichniye Ovoshi”, “ Minsk Tractor Plant”
• Among the largest foreign investors are:
«Philip Moris»,«Pepsi-Cola», ,«Bonduelle»,«Nestle»,«Secab», «Big Dutchman»,«Drezdner», «Netafim», «Êlaas», «Dun Pig».

Company “Nestle” is also going to invest 240 mln. Swiss franc into expansion of the fabric of coffee production” Nestle Kuban”, which is located in Timashevsk.

The sharpening of economic situation in the world nearly has not influenced on the attraction of agricultural complex as the sphere of investment. Investments in agricultural sector are still perspective. Many companies are buying lands of agricultural designation, even if it is not their profile business. The favorable factor for investments is the volume of financing , planned by the authorities of Krasnodar Krai in the sum of about 3 billion rubles.
